Uncle Dan Wants You…to Play Petanque!!!

29 Jun

This Saturday, July 2nd, in Forest Park! Saddle up your pony, stick a feather in your hat and call it macaroni! We’re having a multi-national, star-spangled celebration which will include a home baked frosted Independence day, fourth of July cake emblazoned in the colors of Ol’ Glory for all to share! The shot around the world kicks off at 11 AM with my own harmonica rendition of “Oh Canada” in belated celebration of “Canada Day” on July 1st …bring a hockey stick…and don’t forget to congratulate our own U-S of A Pay-tonk champion who will represent us, the US, Chicago, Forest Park and perhaps even Wendy’s (???) in the upcoming World Petanque Championship this October in Marseille, France!!! ZIGGY-ZIGGY-ZIGGY-ZIGGY-ZIGGY!!!

Just a small correction: The October 2011 date is when The Champions are slated to play the other qualifiers in the Pan american Federation; then on to Marseille.

Here is an extract from the FPUSA document:
    8. Winners have the honor and obligation to represent the U.S.A. at the 2011 Pan American Selection Tournament (site to be determined but most likely at the host club, or within the region, of the winning team.* (Please refer to FPUSA Bylaw regulations.)

*NOTE: The U.S. Team will compete with the other countries in the Pan American Confederation for one of
two spots at the F.I.P.J.P. 2012 Men’s World Championship to be held in Marseille, France.

Well done Ziggy and the team.
